Broadway Musicals for Kids

Broadway musicals for kids are abundant in New York! Experiencing a musical on Broadway simply cannot be missed when you are visiting the city. You may be under the impression, as many people are, that shows aren’t appropriate for children, but nothing could be further from the truth. There are always a variety of musicals that are great to see with children. Some shows have even been specially written and created for the younger generations.

Disney musicals in New York

There are many Broadway shows for kids, but first up I have mentioned the selection of Disney musicals on Broadway. See Aladdin, for example, which tells the magical rags-to-riches story of the Arabian boy and his princess Jasmine. How about the long-running classic The Lion King? Your children will watch in awe as the animals of the savannah roam the stage and the stalls! Both shows are suitable for children 6 years and older.

Family-friendly Broadway shows

For most shows, there is a minimum age of 4 or 5 years. The performances often last an hour and a half to two hours, so quite long to hold the attention of a small child. However, if your little one is over 5 years, you can always go to one of the musicals, especially for children! In addition to the Disney musicals, there are other family-friendly Broadway shows.

For kids age 8 and up, Wicked is a great musical to attend. In this show, you’ll see the story of the popular Glinda and outcast Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.

You could also take children over the age of 10 to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Step into the world of Albus Severus Potter, the son of Harry and Ginny, as he enrols at Hogwarts, where some ghosts from the past return.

Below is a list of all musicals for children that you can currently get tickets for. Buying your tickets before you leave is easy, safe and good value for money!
