My Story

When I had just moved to New York, many of my friends and family came to visit and asked me for tips on what to do and see in the city. As I didn’t feel like repeating my tips over and over again, I decided to write down all the information and put it online. And this is how the journey started! I kept on writing for my loved ones and shared my passion for the city with them. I labelled my personal experiences on the site “Eric’s Tips” so it was clear that I had tried and tested what I was writing about. In addition to my website, I created the Eric’s New York App, which is available in 15 languages! With my app, you’ll have all the essential information in your pocket.

Experience and Advice on New York

Because I travel a lot to and from New York, I know what to expect and what to advise. I’ve made it my mission to visit all the attractions, test a lot of restaurants (ok, I still prefer the pizza and burger ones), see sports games, try and enjoy opera shows and of course, take all the helicopter tours. It is the only way to know what’s worth seeing (and what isn’t!). And why does this matter? Because I want to be honest: if I feel something isn’t worth doing, I will tell you that. As more people (finally!) visited my site, I realised that they were looking for the same information that my friends and family were: local, honest, up-to-date and above all not exaggerated.

Alongside creating my own online New York encyclopedia, I enjoy helping people plan their trip to The Big Apple. I have experienced being single, a father, a tourist, and a local in New York and I don’t take life too seriously, so I guess I have all it takes to help you. In addition to checking out my website, you can always contact me with questions. When it comes to New York, I’m your guy!

My Values

As you’ve read, my website has very humble beginnings, and therefore a very deep personal approach – which I believe is also part of why my website has grown to what it is today. Here are my values in practice:

Reliable

I strive to provide reliable information about visiting New York. I update the website every day and take customer feedback into account. I test all the sights, restaurants and even public toilets. I attend sports games, Broadway shows and opera. And I continue to test the attractions, discount passes, events and more to ensure that I can offer you the most up-to-date information!

Honest

I give honest information: I only write about things I think are worth doing. My guiding principle is: "If I would recommend it to my mother, I can write about it on my website." For 98% of the tours, attractions, restaurants, hotels and (sports) events, I buy my own tickets because I want to know how 'my mom' would experience it. Occasionally, I receive free tickets or invitations. However, IF I do accept these offers (which doesn't happen often), it doesn't mean that I will add the product to the website. If I don't enjoy the experience or feel that it's not worth the money, I also won't share it on the website or on social media.

Helpful

I try to think for you to give helpful tips to save time, money and hassle. I'll tell you honestly not to buy something if I think it's not worth it. I will always give you my honest opinion and try to find the best possible option for your specific situation.

Accessible

You can always contact me with questions and I will do my best to answer as quickly as possible. In addition to the information on my website, my app and the personal help I provide to you is free of charge. You support me by booking and buying tickets through my site.

Local

In addition to having 20+ years of experience visiting and living in New York, I also want to work together with New York locals, small companies and tour operators who I know share the same values.

I want to stand out from the other websites by offering the most relevant information and the best customer service. The best feedback is when a customer has had an amazing time in New York thanks to my help!

A Website Dedicated to the Big Apple

Because I am receiving more and more questions about New York and due to the rapid growth of my sites and app, I have created a company and taken on a skilled team. I pass on my knowledge of New York to them so that they can help you (almost) as well as I can myself.

I’ve lived in many neighbourhoods in New York: East Village on 13th Street, Greenwich Village on Bleecker Street, Upper East Side on Park Avenue, and Hell’s Kitchen on 9th Avenue. I really feel like a local New Yorker who embraces the energy of the city. New York is fast-paced, it’s hip, it’s a melting pot – it’s running in Central Park and grabbing a bagel for breakfast. It’s endless hours of wandering around. Or quickly grabbing a yellow cab (and still waiting forever in traffic). I know what makes this city unique and I would love to tell you all about it too.

Let me help you feel like a real New Yorker!
