Harry Potter Store in New York

Harry Potter Store in New York

The Harry Potter store in New York is the biggest Harry Potter Store in the world. The three-story Harry Potter mecca next to the Flatiron Building is entirely devoted to the stories about the apprentice wizard and the Fantastic Beasts spin-off. The flagship store is an initiative from Warner Bros and contains the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts merchandise ever. As a Harry Potter enthusiast, you can indulge yourself here!

Step Inside the Harry Potter Store in New York

The Harry Potter shop in New York measures around 20,000 square feet and is, therefore, the place to be for all Harry Potter fans. There are products available that are well-known from the films, such as Hogwarts capes, chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans. In addition, new products have been developed especially for the New York store, including an exclusive line of wands.

Ground floor

As you enter the store, you are immediately greeted by an impressive model of Fawkes the Phoenix, suspended from the ceiling. This level of the store is called ‘The Street’, where you can find the Butterbeer Bar, a large collection of wands, stuffed animals and the atrium, among other things.

Go down the stairs spiralling around an impressive Griffin in the centre of the shop to reach the basement. (Take a close look at the stairs’ bannisters as well, they’re wands!)

Basement

The basement, officially known as ‘The Cellar’, houses the book department, the Dark Arts section, an area where you can customise your items and the House of MinaLima. This gallery-like space showcases graphic art from the Wizarding World.

About Eric » Eric’s Tip: “Any Harry Potter fan will find this shop a must-visit. After the checkout, even if you didn’t buy anything, you can just order an original, alcohol-free Butterbeer at the bar. If you have a New York Pass, you can pick it up for free! You can take the cup with you and rinse it clean at the side of the bar before you leave.”

FAQ

You absolutely can! There are even several designated photo locations in the store where you can act as if you're Harry or one of the other characters.

If you're a big fan of the Wizarding World, you could easily spend hours in this store as there is so much to see. Allow at least one to two hours for that. However, if you just want to pop in and out, half an hour should be enough.

You don't need to make a reservation to visit the store itself. However, if you would like to do one of the experiences, I do recommend booking your place online in advance.
