Difference between New York Sightseeing Flex Pass and Sightseeing Day Pass

What is the difference between the New York Sightseeing Flex Pass and the Sightseeing Day Pass? Both are good discount passes for New York, but they are to be used in different ways. The Sightseeing Flex Pass is valid for a specific number of attractions, while the Sightseeing Day Pass is valid for a specific number of days. It’s always a good idea to get a discount pass, rather than buy separate tickets for everything: it is better value, easier and quicker. One of these passes is all you need, you won’t have to pay anything extra while in New York!
Please note: The Sightseeing Pass has unfortunately been discontinued due to financial difficulties. If you have recently purchased a Sightseeing Pass, please contact me at eric@newyork.co.uk.
A good alternative for the Flex Pass is the Explorer Pass.
A good alternative the Day Pass is the New York Pass.

Which pass should I choose?
If you’re in New York for a few days and want to visit a few sights a day, the Sightseeing Flex Pass is probably the best choice for you. The Flex Pass allows you to choose which attractions you want to visit each day. Buy a pass for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 or 12 attractions and it’s valid for 60 days from first use.
In most cases, you don’t need to (and you often can’t) make reservations to visit attractions. You can just decide when you’re in New York, exactly what you want to visit. This gives you maximum flexibility!
If you are planning on seeing and doing as much as possible, the Day Pass is a better option. Buy the Day Pass for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 consecutive days. You can then visit an unlimited number of included sights within this time. You can choose from a list of more than 95 sights and tours.
The Flex Pass and the Day Pass are made by the same company, which means that they both offer mostly the same attractions and tours.

Hop on Hop off Bus
With the Hop on Hop off bus, you can get to know the city during the first few days of your stay. Both passes allow you to use Big Bus Uptown and Downtown tour for two days. You can board right away by showing your pass at the first stop of the route.

As the 9/11 Museum is not included in this pass, you can buy a ticket with time slot separately. Sightseeing Economy Pass
The New York Sightseeing Pass also offers an ‘Economy Pass’ option. This is a cheaper version of the Sightseeing Pass with fewer attractions included in your list of choices. It’s available for both Flex Pass and Day Pass and is aimed at those who have already visited most of New York’s top sights and want to see other things during their trip to New York. You can read more about the passes, compare them and check the list of attractions and tours here.
