The Building at 270 Park Avenue in New York

The Architecture of the JPMorgan Chase Headquarters NYC

The building was designed by Foster + Partners and stands 60 storeys tall. It features a sustainable design. For example, all its electricity is generated by hydroelectric power, and many materials from the building that previously stood on this site were reused in its construction.

Thanks to the inward-facing pillars on which the building rests, it appears to float above the ground. This design also creates space at the base for a high-ceilinged lobby and several public areas.

The company’s 14,000 employees have access to a wide range of amenities. For example, there is a food hall on the premises with around twenty food stalls, an Irish pub and its own Starbucks.

Unique lighting in the New York skyline

The upper floors of 270 Park Avenue are covered in LED lighting. As soon as it gets dark, all sorts of patterns are projected onto the building, from snowflakes to the American flag. When no themed designs are programmed, you will usually see geometric shapes dancing across the façade.

The unique lighting is particularly striking when viewed from Hoboken, on the other side of the Hudson River. The skyscraper really stands out here alongside One Vanderbilt and the Empire State Building.

Can you visit JPMorgan 270 Park Avenue?

When you come across this impressive building, you may wonder whether you’re allowed to go inside if you’re not a bank employee. Unfortunately, access to the building is restricted to staff members of the JPMorgan New York office.

On the ground floor, small squares, green spaces and art have been incorporated into the design, which helps to connect the building more closely with the city. These areas are open to visitors. And be sure to look up, because the building is truly impressive from this vantage point!
