The Bet

My Fair Lady is making it’s long-awaited return to Broadway after 25 years! The musical portrays Eliza Doolittle, a brash, bad mannered florist with a strong cockney accent. Two pompous gentlemen with an interest in phonetics, Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering spot Eliza at the market and engage in a wager: Will Higgens succeed in teaching Eliza to lose her accent and turn her into a ‘lady’? The revival of this musical brings back all the favourite musical numbers from earlier versions, including “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “Get Me to the Church on Time” and “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly”.

Eric’s Tip: If you are looking for a classic period drama musical with less weight than The Phantom of the Opera then My Fair Lady is a great choice. The sets, costumes, actors and even the theatre seating all bring to life Eliza Doolittle’s story wonderfully. Don’t forget to check out the fountain show at Lincoln Center after the show! Want to make the night even more unforgettable? Celebrate in style by renting a limousine in New York and you can drive down Broadway before arriving to the theatre.
