The Allure of Radio City Music Hall in New York

Radio City Music Hall opened in 1932 and has been part of the Rockefeller Center complex since the beginning. The architect, Edward Durell Stone, designed the building which is one city block long. Interior designer Donald Deskey gave shape to 30 different spaces in Art Deco style, from the Grand Foyer to various lounges and smoking areas. He filled the spaces with works from artists, making the building a unique complex. In 1978, the Radio City Music Hall venue was declared a landmark, and therefore it’s one of the most important buildings in the city.

Radio City Music Hall is the largest indoor theatre in the world. The large hall, the Great Stage, is no less than 48 metres long, has a height of 25 metres and offers more than 5900 seats. The stage is framed by a huge arch, and it’s considered one of the best-sounding stages in the world. In addition, the golden stage curtain is the largest in the world.
