Shopping in SoHo

Shopping in SoHo

Shopping in SoHo should definitely be part of your New York trip. SoHo, New York, is the area between Houston Street, Canal Street, 6th Avenue and Lafayette Street, which also gives it its name: South of Houston. Every street corner is lined with shops, a mix of high street and boutique. The beautiful buildings and cobblestone streets make the experience even better. It’s easy to get a bit lost in SoHo, but don’t worry. You’ll probably just find a new amazing shop!

Best Shopping in SoHo New York

If you’re not sure where to start your shopping in SoHo Manhattan, take the subway lines RW to Prince Street or, if on foot, head to the crossing of Prince Street and Broadway. The hop on hop off tour has a SoHo stop. SoHo can get very busy on weekends, especially in the afternoon. Therefore, if possible, I recommend planning your shopping for a weekday.

With all the shops in SoHo New York, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Pretty much most of the major brands are found along Broadway. If you are looking for more designer and boutique stores, then head to Prince, Broome and Spring Street. Also, for art lovers, West Broadway has the most galleries.

Shops on Broadway

There is a Bloomingdale’s on Broadway, which is a bit smaller than the Midtown branch. The department store also has free wifi and free toilets (look for signs that say lounge/restroom), so is a good pitstop during your shopping spree. On the same street, there’s also a big Nike store, with five floors full of sneakers and sportswear.

Broadway is also home to clothing stores such as Banana Republic, American Eagle Outfitters, H&M and UNIQLO. In addition, stores like Guess and Prada are located here. But the shops in SoHo offer much more than clothing. Head to Sephora for beauty products, or Target for anything you could possibly need…

Shops on Prince, Broome and Spring Street

Leave Broadway and wander the cobblestone streets of Prince, Broome and Spring Street, away from the larger crowds. Here in this area, you’ll find more luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Stella McCartney.

On Prince Street, there is also a big Apple store. In one of its side streets, you’ll find Canada Goose, a great place to buy a new winter coat. The Adidas Originals flagship store is located in SoHo, on Spring Street.

West Broadway is also worth a stroll, it has a few nice art galleries and UK brand Reiss is there, plus a big Gucci store that almost looks like a museum.

Greene Street is also a nice option and usually a bit more peaceful. Here you’ll find the Swedish fashion brand Acne Studios and a branch of the Italian Stone Island.
