Vineyards Day Trip from New York

Long Island Winery

Do you want to visit the best vineyards in New York? Then go to Long Island! Let your taste buds be tickled and take a day trip to the Long Island Wineries. You will drive from a central point in New York City with a luxury coach to North Fork, and breakfast is included! On this tour you will have 13 different tastings of the finest wines.

Unfortunately this tour is no longer available. See here for other day trips from New York.

Pindar Vineyards

The first stop is at Pindar Vineyards, which is the largest vineyard of Long Island. The vineyard grows 17 different types of grapes and with those they create 23 different wines. At Pindar Vineyards you will enjoy five tastings of those. Afterwards you will go for a stroll through the vineyard and experience first hand where and how the wines are made. You can drink your freshly purchased wine on the drinking deck if you like, with a view at the grape vines. The Pindar Vineyard has the best view of the three vineyards and is a very good spot to just hang out.

Duckwalk Vineyards

Duckwalk Vineyards, your second stop, has 12 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc grapevines. They have a couple of specialties: Vidal Ice Wine and Bluberry Port (which is a dessert wine and really sweet, but great with chocolate). The winery is a true Hamptons landmark, with the chateau style-building. The winery has evolved to become one of the best in Long Island. The staff is knowledgeable about the different wines and doesn’t mind helping you out with the search of the wine you’ll love. You will also taste five different wines in this vineyard.

Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard

The third and last stop on this tour is the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, a great place to relax. This vineyard has a lot of food as well to enjoy (at your own expense). The Merlot meatballs are made with their own Merlot and definitely a must try for everyone who’s hungry after all the wine tasting. The Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard uses a ticket system for the tastings. You get a number of tickets for the tastings (in this case three), and with that you can get your drink. This means you don’t have to drink them all in one go, but you can spread it out. Especially since you’ll have more time at this location. Next to a winery, the Baiting Hollow Farm also has a horse rescue ranch.

Eric’s tip: Note that this is not a guided tour, all the time you have there is at your own discretion. You can bring your own food, so I suggest to do so as the food is a bit pricey and you’ll really want something to eat after a couple of tastings. The best time to go to on this tour is in the summer.
