About Eric » Eric’s Tip: “If you are visiting New York during one of the public holidays, you should be aware that there may changes to opening hours and other special arrangements. If there is a parade on Fifth Avenue, for example, the Hop on Hop off buses will most likely adjust the routes. Despite any disruptions, you will have the opportunity to experience New York in a unique way.”

During the week of Christmas and New Year's, there might be some schedule changes, but shows generally keep running. Sometimes, even extra shows are added. These are never last-minute changes, so you won't face any surprises.

Yes, you can still use the subway on public holidays in New York. The subway runs all year round, but on certain public holidays, it operates on a Sunday schedule, meaning the trains run less frequently than on regular days.
